LET'S TEACH DANCE! 2.0 – Safe Dance Teaching Practice

After the successful first series of LET'S TEACH DANCE! last year, we are pleased to announce the next series in the field of ethics and dance. Building on the positive feedback, we have further developed and expanded the program.
The new series consists of three live events and four online seminars, which all individually and independently cover different topics.
Live seminars (One day seminars)
- August 24 – Geneva: Perfectionism and self-esteem – in cooperation with RP Genève, will take place as part of “Dance and Psychology” with Isabelle Schramm. → Further information.
- October 26 – Zurich: Healthy dance environment: Teaching methods, lesson planning according to the Code of Conduct of Danse Suisse. → Further information.
- November 22 – Lugano: Observation, feedback and motivation according to the Code of Conduct of Danse Suisse, in collaboration with Scuola Accademia Dimitri → Further information.
Online inputs (each 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
- April 27: Physical, psychological, social and cognitive development of children and young people
- June 15: Neurodiversity in dance classes
- September 7: Performance anxiety and resilience
- November 30: Basic principles of physiology, anatomy and biomechanics
Lecturers
Angela Pickard is a former dancer, a highly experienced dance teacher and researcher with extensive experience in training dance teachers. She is the first professor of dance education at Canterbury Christ Church University and has published numerous scientific papers on dance education, the development of dancers, and the psychological and physiological challenges of teaching dance. Her research focuses particularly on the physical and mental demands that dancers face in training and in their professional lives. In the seminar, she will share her expertise in the areas of lesson planning, teaching and the integration of psychological findings into dance lessons.
Isabelle Schramm is a former dancer, choreographer and psychologist with a special focus on the mental health and well-being of dance professionals. She takes an interdisciplinary approach, combining her experience in the professional dance world with psychological insights to offer practical strategies for promoting resilience, mental strength and emotional balance in dancers. In the seminar in Geneva, she will focus on the psychological aspects of dance pedagogy and present methods for supporting mental health in dance classes.
