COMPATIBILITY OF PRIVATE AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE IN THE DANCESCENE
How can a better work-life balance be achieved in the dance profession?
Since June 2023, the RP Danses – Genève and the AVDC, have been working on common solutions to improve work-life balance in the dance industry. By distributing a questionnaire and conducting interviews in partnership with Action Danse Fribourg, as well as holding workshops in Geneva and Vaud between June and October 2024, recommendations on this topic have been formulated and are now being published.
The study identifies key challenges faced by dance professionals:
• gender inequality
• invisibility and isolation
• taboo and lack of information
• organizational complexity
•
To address these issues, common solutions were developed that address both the individual and structural levels. The recommendations provide concrete measures for dance professionals, institutions and policy makers to ensure a better work-life balance.
To make it easier to find your way around, the advice is color-coded according to four different target groups, so that solutions can be implemented. RP Danses – Genève has been offering its members childcare during events and masterclasses since 2023. They continue to work towards a better balance between the dance profession and parenthood.
