URBAN FESTIVALS
In March, three festivals in Switzerland were dedicated to urban culture. Hip-hop, urban dance, music and related disciplines are constantly evolving – and the Swiss scene presented itself in all its diversity in the country's three language regions. The Groove'N'Move, Make Your Move and Common Ground festivals offered unique insights into this dynamic world.
Groove'N'Move – 15 years of urban dance in Geneva
The Groove'N'Move festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary. Founded in 2011 by Sébastien Boucher, it was born out of the conviction that urban dance speaks a powerful, universal language. Supported by the Art'O'Danse association, the festival has been inviting people to experience hip-hop culture up close for almost 15 years with shows, workshops, conferences and film screenings.

Make Your Move – Dance & Culture in Lugano
The Make Your Move Festival in Lugano started as a music festival and by 2017 had developed into a major event for dance and culture. Today, it includes two major competitions: the Make Your Move Battle, an international hip-hop tournament, and a platform for dance schools worldwide. Supported by the city of Lugano, it brings dancers from different styles onto a common stage.

Common Ground – hip-hop meets theater
With Common Ground, the company MEK is creating a platform for the hip-hop community to develop dance in a theater context. Initiator Muhammed Kaltuk strives to strengthen the Swiss dance scene and open up new perspectives for it. The program focuses on dialogue with the local scene and offers space for exchange and artistic growth.
