The National Cultural Dialogue has adopted four specific recommendations for a sustainable cultural policy. The aim is to align the cultural sector with climate goals without restricting artistic freedom.

On November 25, 2024, the National Cultural Dialogue adopted four recommendations to support cultural funding bodies in cities, municipalities, cantons and at federal level in promoting an ecologically sustainable cultural policy. These recommendations are based on the findings of the "Ecology in the cultural sector" working group, which has been investigating sources of emissions and climate protection potential in the cultural sector since 2021.

The proposals include the use of guidelines and instruments to reduce emissions and the promotion of knowledge exchange between cultural stakeholders. In this way, the cultural sector should make its contribution to the climate goals without compromising artistic freedom.

The specific implementation of the recommendations is the responsibility of the respective cultural funding bodies. The National Cultural Dialogue, launched in 2011, brings together representatives from the federal government, cantons, cities and municipalities to develop joint cultural policy strategies.
