Sélection Suisse en Avignon

From: Danse Suisse

At this year's Festival d'Avignon, five dance performances from Switzerland can be discovered from July 7 to 20 as part of the “Sélection Suisse.”

The program includes the performance of “Les impromptus” by Flemish-born Geneva choreographer Cindy van Acker. Les impromptus was created in 2023 at the Fondation de l'Hermitage in Lausanne as part of a retrospective on the painter Léon Spilliaert and evokes Ostend, the sea, and its dykes. Another work on display is “Turn On” by Soraya Leila Emery from Zurich. The Swiss dancer and choreographer of Moroccan origin uses her dual culture as a prism through which she questions the experience of female desire. Finally, performance art will also feature with “Tous les sexes tombent du ciel” by Léa Katharina Meier, an artist from the canton of Vaud who studied at art colleges in Bern and Geneva.

The “Sélection Suisse en Avignon” is a project conceived and financed by Pro Helvetia and the Commission romande de diffusion des spectacles (Corodis) and supported by several cities and cantons.
