The founders of Marchepied Cie, Corinne Rochet and Nicholas Pettit, have been committed to promoting young talent in contemporary dance for a quarter of a century.

The Lausanne-based choreographic duo was awarded the Swiss Prize for the Performing Arts in 2024 with Marchepied Cie. Corinne Rochet and Nicholas Pettit have trained and accompanied 137 dancers over the past 25 years. Until the creation of institutional training programs (EFZ 2008) and a bachelor's degree program (2011) in dance, in which the duo was actively involved, the company offered a two-year training program with technical and theoretical courses that prepared students for international degree programs. The two visionaries also founded the “Compagnie Junior Le Marchepied”, which offered a nine-month intensive program with master classes, performances and networking events from 2011 to 2019.

Since 2020, the Marchepied has offered young graduates a springboard in the form of a six-month paid engagement. After completing their training, five young artists are given the opportunity to consolidate their talents and prepare for future engagements. For the final performance, the duo Pettit*Rochet creates new works every year, but also invites renowned choreographers such as Ioannis Mandafounis, Laurence Yadi and Nicolas Cantillon from Compagnie 7273 or Joshua Monten. Christian Rizzo has also been invited as a guest choreographer for the anniversary year. The creations will be presented in Switzerland and abroad.
