LET’S TEACH DANCE! CONTINUING EDUCATION SEMINAR

Mittwoch 04.09.24
From: Laura Jaeggi

Co-hosted by Danse Suisse and Angela Pickard, our first two seminars took place in the German and French speaking parts of Switzerland with over 70 participants in attendance. The next edition of LET`S TEACH DANCE will take place in Lugano on October 26th, 2024.

  • Should teachers continue to make physical corrections?
  • How can progress be made without excessive pressure?
  • How do I deal with the expectations of parents whose child is expected to play a leading role?

This seminar will offer in-depth insight into the ethical, responsible and professional aspects of teaching dance. Dance pedagogues from the region will have the opportunity to share their experiences and enrich their teaching practice.

Why participate?

Creating a safe, supportive and ethical learning environment is of paramount importance to today's dance teaching landscape. Professor → Angela Pickard, Director of the Sidney de Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health at the University of Canterbury, will return to lead this seminar and address key issues along with a discussion of practical solutions.

Code of Conduct for dance teachers

The recently revised Danse Suisse → Code of Conduct for dance teachers, which promotes ethics, integrity and professionalism in dance teaching, will be a central theme throughout the seminar.
