INAUGURATION OF PLACE BEATRIZ CONSUELO IN GENEVA

Montag 24.06.24
From: Corinne Jaquiéry

As a result of the City of Geneva's commitment to more equal gender representation in public spaces, Place Charles-Sturm was renamed Place Beatriz-Consuelo in June 2024. This change honours an important prima ballerina and teacher who passed on her passion to numerous generations of dancers through the Junior Ballet she founded.

The renaming of the square where the ADC pavilion is located is a tribute to dance in Geneva and emphasises the city's appreciation of this art form.

At the inauguration ceremony, Foofwa d'Imobilité, dancer, choreographer and son of Beatriz Consuelo, presented an audiovisual installation in collaboration with the ADC, based on the archives of the Beatriz Consuelo Fund, which has been held at the SAPA Foundation since 2019.
