In collaboration with the interest groups, Danse Suisse is organizing a three-hour “Fitness foundation” workshop with Angélique Keller in September and November 2025. It shows that physical fitness is the key to outstanding stage performance.

Strength and fitness training are important foundations for professional stage dance. Freelance dancers usually do not have access to professional fitness infrastructure and have to rely on their own resources. The workshop provides theoretical knowledge based on dance and sports science findings as well as practical exercises to develop individual fitness strategies for your own dance career.


After a compact theoretical introduction to the basics of fitness training, short, effective why-up strategies will be presented. In the subsequent practical part, the lower extremities, core and upper body are specifically trained. Variations are explored that suit your own style, body and fitness level. At the end, there is room for individual questions, sharing and trying things out together. The goal is to train smarter so that you can be able to dance longer. The workshop shows why and how fitness should be incorporated into the weekly training plan.
