EFZ Musical
The first graduating class of the EFZ apprenticeship for Stage Dancers specializing in Musicals successfully started their final year of training.
In the newly restaged German-language production directed and choreographed by Götz Hellriegel, 17 students were able to dance, sing and act on stage as soloists throughout an entire performance.
As the final examinations approach in May 2025, current students can now partake in auditions for future professional work. The first success stories are already here and belong to students, Shania Ochsner with her participation in "La cage aux folles" at the Gärtnerplatz Theater in Munich and Ayla Holdener with hers in "Fledermaus" at the Luzerner Theater
Testimonial from Alina Mettler regarding her experience playing Maggie in “A Chorus Line”:
“This summer was the first time I was able to rehearse a whole play with my fellow students. The entire rehearsal period involved a lot of concentration, joy, effort, determination, stress and creativity. We all didn't know exactly what to expect, which fueled the tension before the rehearsals. After the first reading, however, we realized that we could only bring this play to life if we worked together.
Although Götz didn't stop positively pushing us to our limits and making us sweat until the end, I found his collaboration with us very pleasant, exciting and correct. The rehearsal was extremely instructive for us as a group as well as for each individual. We were able to experience for the first time what it means to rehearse an entire musical. I learned a lot to bring with me for life!”
The Musical Factory Luzern has been the national training center for the state-recognized and financed four-year apprenticeship for Stage Dancers specializing in Musicals (EFZ) since 2021.
The prerequisites for entry into the apprenticeship are completion of obligatory schooling (nine years) and a solid basic education in dance. It is possible to complete a vocational diploma during the apprenticeship.
The goal of the apprenticeship is to give students direct access to the profession. Through on-stage and off-stage internships, students gain four years of initial experience in the field. Upon graduation, students also have the opportunity to continue their education at a higher technical college or at a university of applied sciences.
The next aptitude test for the start of the apprenticeship in August 2025 will take place on Sunday, November 10, 2024. All information about the aptitude test and registration can be found → here.
