DISFRAME

From: Danse Suisse

The “disframe” network, funded by the Migros Culture Percentage, is the successor project to “IntegrART”, which has been presenting inclusive dance and theater productions with its partner festivals every two years since 2007 and is committed to inclusion in the performing arts.

The “disframe” network consists of five partner institutions spread across Switzerland: Out of the Box - Biennale des Arts inclusifs (Geneva), which connects performing and visual arts with a focus on inclusion; Wildwuchs (Basel), which deals with an expanded concept of diversity; BewegGrund. The festival (Bern), which is organized and presented by the inclusive dance company BewegGrund of the same name; Gessnerallee (Zurich), which explores current social issues with an inclusive program and strives to break down existing barriers. And finally, the Orme Festival (Ticino), which was created by the association and the Teatro Danzabile company, which is made up of people with and without disabilities and has been moving between theater, dance, performance and cultural mediation for 20 years.

From May to June 2025, selected pieces will be presented in the institutions and at the festivals. The program consists of dance, stand-up comedy and performance and aims to artistically question ableist practices and habits and make artistic creation more accessible, participatory and diverse. The Orme Festival, for example, focuses on accessibility for artists and audiences: audio descriptions, tactile tours, over-titles and Italian sign language are just some of the tools used to guarantee a high-quality experience for all. Education also plays a central role at Teatro Danzabile: inclusive masterclasses - this year with Stopgap Dance Company (UK) - enable encounters between professionals and performers with and without disabilities, thus promoting profound and lasting cultural change.
