DANCE MEDIATION: CONTINUING EDUCATION PROJECT, “CONNECT”

Mittwoch 04.09.24
From: Bettina Holzhausen

In Switzerland, dance is finally being considered as a holistic intervention for various health challenges. Experiences from the Connect Project in Zurich have been very encouraging. An upcoming training weekend with exciting input from David Leventhal and Clare Guss-West, including a meeting of interested professionals and institutions, will shed more light on the surrounding issues.

Dance & Health

Dance can offer a holistic approach to preventing and overcoming physical, mental and social health challenges for all people including those with chronic illnesses. In classes led by professional dance mediators, people are not seen as patients, but as dancers involved in a joyful, interactive, artistic practice.

Dancing with neurological challenges

The project → Connect-Dancing with Neurological Challenges, founded by the Zurich Opera House, Tonhalle Zurich, the dance collective “The Field” and the foundation “Dance and Creative Wellbeing”, has been met with a great deal of interest. The upcoming professional training weekend is part of this initiative and provides a networking opportunity for dance professionals and institutions. David Leventhal, co-founder of Dance for PD® and internationally recognized expert, will give a one-day presentation on integrative dance practices and, together with Clare Guss-West, will deepen the application of “Conscious Cueing”, the art of clear and creative cueing, in dance classes.
