Dance mediators belong to the professional groups that, together with choreographers, dancers, dance teachers and dance directors, are represented by Danse Suisse in all their professional matters. With their work, dance mediators are committed to making artistic dance accessible to the general public and thus contribute greatly to the distribution of choreographic creation throughout Switzerland.

A central concern of → Tanzvermittlung CH and Danse Suisse is to increase awareness of the diversity within dance mediation in Switzerland, and to ensure its long-term quality. For this reason, the two organizations signed a collaborative agreement in December.

As a result of this cooperation, Danse Suisse now maintains a professional register for dance mediators, which serves to ensure quality in this field of work. Furthermore, the two organizations look to organize continuing education courses for dance mediators and those interested in dance mediation.

Register for Dance Mediators

The introduction of the professional register for dance mediators is an important step towards quality assurance. It recognizes the professionalism and quality of dance mediators who make dance accessible to the broader population in a diverse, participatory, and inclusive way.

The recently assembled commission of experts from all over Switzerland examines the qualifications of the applicants and decides on their admission based on predefined criteria. Dance mediators can be qualified in one or more of the six specific mediation fields: Dance & School, Artistic community dance, Dance in diverse contexts, Dance mediation for spectators, Dance & Health, and Dance & Research. In addition, members of the register can take advantage of their enrollment in their professional communication and thus gain access to further resources and networks.
