We are pleased to announce that the Code of Conduct for dance mediators has been finalized and is now available on our website. The launch of which, together with the professional register for dance mediators, represents a significant milestone in the professionalization of the field.

The finalized Code of Conduct for dance mediators is now available. The new code of conduct provides clear guidelines to protect mediators and participants within mediation projects. The safety and well-being of participants is paramount. Important points include:

  • Mutual respect: Dance mediators are to treat participants and colleagues with respect and create an environment free of discrimination.
  • Safety: Mediators are responsible for the physical and psychological safety of participants and adapt exercises to their abilities.
  • Transparency and communication: It is expected that all parties will engage in open communication about project goals and rules, as well as frequent reflection on individual practices.
  • Dealing with intimacy and physical contact: The topic of physical proximity must be handled with the utmost respect and consideration for the needs of each individual; including for those who wish to refrain from having physical contact.
  • Protection against abuse: Any form of abuse, including sexual harassment, will not be tolerated and will be legally prosecuted.
  • Conflict management: Dance mediators should be able to recognize conflicts and to competently find constructive solutions.
