ADN: FOCUS DANCE AND COMBAT
The event, "Focus Danse and Combat", organized by ADN (Association Danse Neuchâtel), will take place from September 21st to 26th, 2024 and will demonstrate the intertwining of dance and martial arts such as Kung Fu, wrestling, and boxing.
The influence of martial arts, evident equally among contemporary and ballet schools like the Rudra Béjart School, fosters multidisciplinarity and openness to new concepts, as well as serves as a source for inspiration.
In “Focus Danse and Combat”, combat becomes play. Under the direction of well-known hip-hop dancer, Raphaël Berkane, artists draw upon urban dance and martial arts to offer a range of playful and acrobatic activities.

Swiss choreographer Johanna Heusser immersed herself in the contrasting, and patriarchal world of traditional wrestling. With her work “Dr Churz, dr Schlungg und dr Böös”, she invites the audience to look beyond the clichés and discover the political and erotic aspects of this sport.

The multidisciplinary artists Cyril Bondi, Erika Nieva Cunha, Julie Semoroz and Emma Souharce take the stage as one would enter a boxing club, in an outlet experience that engages both body and mind. Both a space for training and play, Boxing Noise is a collective, immersive project, shouting loudly for inclusive feminism and political anti-racism!
